With international and local travel off the agenda for the time being I was lucky to sneak in a gorgeous dog friendly staycation weekend away. Usually Piper (my Border Terrier) gets fobbed off to the sitter, so we were all thrilled to review a special 5 star doggie staycation at The Eastbury Hotel in Sherborne. What a treat. Plus she had been promised chicken and rice dinners in the dining room.
First up, Piper needed a new hair cut, so a trip to our local beauty palour Just Barking was in order. Followed by a new collar from the sustainable brand Aspiga. She needed to look smart for her VIP doggie staycation.
We arrived at The Eastbury Hotel to stay in one of their gorgeous new garden room. Piper was presented with a special bed, lots of treats and even a cuddly toy.
How cute is this bed full of special treats!
We were then given a guided tour around the ancient market town of Sherborne dates back to 706 ! Unfortunately the world famous abbey was closed due to COVID but we toured the alms house which dates back to the 1400s and learnt about the Digby family who own an incredible castle dating back to 1600s.
The Victoria Garden ‘Potting Shed‘ suite are spacious and brand new. They have been beautifully styled with gorgeous details like this log burning fire and Smeg fridge.
This best was so comfy! I have never slept so well.
But let’s talk about the FOOD! It’s West Country dining at its finest. The head chef, Matthew Street is a Master Chef quarter finalist and the Eastbury Hotel restaurant has won many awards. We dined like royalty. There was ‘Whipped Goats Cheese, Chilled Beetroot Soup, Orange, Hazelnuts, Golden Beetroot, Baby Chard’ for example! And the Roast Lamb with Tandoori Spice and Black Dal was incredible. On our second night we tried the tasting menu of 7 dishes which is a great way to sample this culinary artistry.
Bravo Matthew Street, Head Chef of The Eastbury Hotel. 100% recommend this restaurant if you are in the Sherborne area.
Next up the spa! The Eastbury has created bijou spa nestled in the bottom of their walled garden. Due to COVID restrictions, guests are given exclusivity of the spa for an hour at a time and we enjoyed the hot tub and sauna.
I also enjoyed an exceptional anti-ageing facial. They use the Caudalie products which are one of my favourite beauty brands.
It was quite wet on Saturday so we tried to play pool in the games room. I am terrible at this game but my husband did this cute water colour painting so it was worth the humiliation.
The best thing of all was snuggling up with my pup in our gorgeous garden room. What a treat. As you can see, Piper was just thrilled! Many thanks everyone at The Eastbury. It was wonderful xx Love Marie Louise x
